Fibre: 100% Superwash Merino from Nundle Wool Mill

Meterage:  180m approx / weight 100gm
Needle Size: 4mm for sweaters, 4.5-5mm for shawls & cowls.
Characteristics: Resistant to pilling, shrinking or felting this yarn is beautifully soft and smooth.
Use: Ideal for warmer garments, shawls, cowls, ponchos & beanies.

Bamboozle - 4ply Base (UK)

Soft and cool to the touch it will be lovely against the skin in the warmer months and has wonderful drape. The Bamboo in the blend does not take the dye so there is a slight marled effect in the colourway which is just lovely.

Fibre: 80% non SW Merino / 20% Possum Fur

Needle Size: 2.75-3.25mm
Tension: 28 stitches x 36 rows per 10cm/4"
Characteristics: A soft and lofty yarn sourced from Wild Earth Yarns NZ.

Merino blended with Possum, grown in the South Island and processed in Christchurch. A light, bulky woollen spun yarn. The Possum fur is trapped on the Banks Peninsula NZ and is hand plucked.

 

Good for those quick projects that require warmth for those wintery days. Soft against the skin.

Luxfin Fingering 4ply Base (Nundle)

Characteristics: Very soft with a lot of drape.
Use: This yarn has the halo of alpaca with the softness and subtle sheen of silk. It has beautiful drape lending itself particularly well to shawls and cowls.

The property that the wool is sourced from is 6th generation merino. They have approx.. 9000 Soft Rolling Skin (SRS) Merino Sheep that produce the fleece that that this yarn base is spun from. The SRS Merino is fast growing with a high crimp that binds particularly well in the milling process and is renowned for its low itch feel. The SRS Merino sheep are smooth bodied, naturally resistant to fly strike and never need to be mulesed. The farm maintains 3 male mobs of about 250 sheep per mob. The males are left additional time prior to sheering to allow for the fleece to get to around 100mm or four inches to create the best of yarns .

Mt Bodangora is grown under the ‘SustainaWOOL’ integrity scheme. This is an accreditation program run by Italian woollen mills to promote “sustainable production of superfine wool with emphasis on wool produced under natural pastoral / grazing conditions and with the highest regard to the environment and the animal

Sc-Ram-bled - DK Base (NZ)

Weight: DK 

Fibre: 100% Wool mix spun in New Zealand 
Meterage:  200m approx / weight 100gm
Needle Size: 4mm 22st x 30rows per 10cm sq
Characteristics: An all purpose yarn, robust, strong, soft.
Use: Though this yarn is a little cheaper due to its mixed fibre content, it will be equally good in sweaters, beanies, gloves, throw rugs, cushions or toys. Not as luxuriously soft as a 100% merino, but still soft and not scratchy unless you have super sensitive skin. It also works well in felting crafts.

We had this base created in collaboration with Fibre Arts Shed at Jilliby on the Central Coast. The Fibres for this yarn Base is Merino (Ashford Merino - NZ) and Alpaca (Iris Lodge Alpaca Farm - Jilliby).

There are 4 variations of this base.
Three Trees Shed A - The all-white skeins are merino/white alpaca.
Three Trees Shed B - Two white strands (merino /white alpaca) & one brown strand (merino /brown alpaca)
Three Trees Shed C - One white strand (merino /white alpaca) & two brown (merino /brown alpaca)
Three Trees Shed D - All brown skeins are merino /brown alpaca
