From the years 1840-1926 French Impressionist Claude Monet produced approximately 250 oil paintings depicting the water lilies of his home garden in Giverny. Being the main focus of his last 30 years of life, many of the paintings were painted while Monet suffered from cataracts. The soft, light, indistinctly shaped colours of these artworks is a great inspiration for this colourway. "Lily Pond" has a tonal base of light blue and green, with swathes and speckles of darker blue, purple, pink and yellow. Due to the vehement insistence of my daughter Amanda, "Lily Pond" is a part of our Spring colourways and can be paired with others from this collection.
