Honey Ant is a rich warm yellow. Honey ants are not a separate species, but specialized ants in a colony that act as a larder. They engorge themselves with food which becomes a sweet substance, like honey, stored in their enormously enlarged abdomens. This is a popular bush food, and interestingly different species of ants have different flavoured honey.
